Coinciding with three of the chapters of the plan, the implementation is envisioned to have three distinct phases. Phase one would pursue the housing recommendations (Pg. 69), phase two would do the same for the West Vail Center recommendations (Pg. 56), and phase three would focus on the transportation and mobility goals (Pg. 99).

The Planning and Environmental Commission (PEC) reviewed the recommendations and proposed language for the new district starting in June of 2022. From those meeting and public feedback the new zone districts were combined and expanded to be one overlay district that encompassed the entire West Vail Master Plan study area. This proposal was reviewed on March 27, 2023, and recommended for approval to Town Council at the April 10, 2023, PEC Meeting. An ordinance to create the new overlay district is anticipated to be presented to Council in May of 2023. To keep up to date, check the PEC agendas here.
